Holiday Boarding
Green Fields Rescue is pleased to announce that we are now able to take bookings for holiday boarding for both rabbits and guinea pigs. 100% of the funds raised from the cost of boarding your pet with us will go straight back into the rescue. Now your bunny or guinea can have a fab holiday AND help those less fortunate than themselves!
You are very welcome to come and see us and we can show you the facilities and have a chat about your animals individual needs and character. We make every effort to reduce any stress your pet may feel at being away from home.
Rabbits on holiday

We welcome you and your bunnies here at the rescue, and you can stay with your rabbit/s for as long as you wish while they adjust to their new surroundings.
We can ONLY accept rabbits who are fully protected against Myxomatosis and VHD by up to date vaccination into boarding to protect the other animals in the rescue. Please bring a copy of their vaccination certificate when you come. We also ask that all rabbits are treated with an insect repellant such as rearguard to prevent flystrike in the summer months. We can do this for you for a small donation. We are able to cater for elderly bunnies and those on medication.
Whilst on holiday, rabbits will be housed in a 6 foot by 4 foot cabin (with another platform inside to give more room). We can use whichever bedding you prefer for your pet. Hay, straw, newspaper, megazorb, toweling and vetbed are all available. The spacious nature of the cabins also make them ideal for boarding house rabbits who are not used to the confinement of a hutch. The cabins feature:
- Mesh doors for keeping an eye on whats going on around the rescue in the day time....
- A light which is turned on at dusk until bedtime The days seem so short in the winter and there is so much playing to be squeezed into the day you see....
- A heated bed area in winter, or fan in the summer. This is 100% completely bunny safe. There are no cables to be chewed & there is a thermal cut out and powerbreaker for additional safety
- Bunny run space & hugs Bunnies are given AT LEAST 2 hours per day out of their shed to race around on the grass and in the rescue posing in front of all the other bunnies! All bunnies are given unlimited (within reason..or until we get cramp...) nose rubs, kisses and cuddles.
- Toys All bunnies are given a twig ball, a straw plait and a tunnel in their shed. We encourage you to bring your bunnies own toys too.
To make your bunny feel at home, please bring with you:
- Their own food bowls & water bowls/bottle
- Their own litter tray and/or bed
- Their own toys
- If your bunny is on a special diet, please bring what they need for that. We are able to provide for bunnies who eat Burgess Excel, Bunny Basics T and Supreme Science pellets as well as fresh hay, dried grass, and vegetables. Please give us a list of your bunnies favorite fruits and veggies.
Guinea Pigs on holiday

Whilst on holiday Guinea Pigs will be housed in a 4 foot by 2 and a half foot hutch with daily access to a large run on the grass where they can earn their keep by mowing the lawn for us!! We can use whichever bedding you prefer for your pet. Hay, straw, newspaper, megazorb, toweling and vetbed are all available. Guinea pig holiday hutches feature:
- Sheltered indoor location warm in the winter, cool in the summer
- Ground floor or penthouse levels available!
- Mineral stone, chew tube and igloo in all hutches (sorry, but there are no tea and coffee making facilities or cable TV but we are working on it for phase two...)
- Large secure run with shaded/shelter area always available
To make your guinea feel at home, please bring with you:
- Their own food bowls & water bowls or bottle
- Their own toys
- If your guinea is on a special diet, please bring whatever they need for that. We are able to provide for guineas who eat Burgess Excel or Page & Allen as well as fresh hay, dried grass, and vegetables. Please give us a list of your guineas favorite fruits and veggies.
- By arrangement, guineas in their own indoor housing/cages can also be accommodated.
2005 Prices and Booking:
To book please email: bookings@greenfieldsrescue.co.uk
Please book as far ahead as possible to avoid disappointment, especially during school and public holidays when we are often fully booked months in advance! Now booking well into 2006. We now have NO VACANCIES remaining for Christmas or New year. Half term and Easter 2006 filling up fast.
If we are unable to take your booking due to the rescue being full, we can recommend two other good quality boarding facilities in the area. For rabbit boarding, contact Doe Drop Inn located in Camberley. Doe Drop Inn caters for rabbits in purpose built "Inns". These are kitted out to the same standard as own boarding cabins. Doe Drop Inn raises funds for the vet bills of the poorly bunnies that Claire fosters for both Green Fields and Bobtails Rescues. For boarding guinea pigs, contact Guinea Pig Holidays located in Sandhurst. Katie and Linda have vast experience with caring for guinea pigs. If you do book with them when we are full, please mention you were referred by Green Fields Rescue and 10% of your fees are donated to us!!
100% of the proceeds from the costs of boarding go straight into funding Green Fields Rescue. We do NOT take any profit from it ourselves. Our competative prices reflect that our care and facilities are top quality. We constantly strive to improve and enrich the environment for the animals in our care.
Guinea pigs:
£3 per night for a single guinea pig
£5 per night for a pair living together
£7 per night for a trio living together
£10 for four or more piggies living together
Please contact us for quotations for larger groups which can be accomodated on the floor of one of the 6 x 4 ft cabins.
Rabbits:
£5 per night for a single bunny
£7 per night for a pair living together
£10 per night for a trio living together
Please contact us for quotations for larger groups which can be accomodated in a large 5 X 10 ft indoor enclosure in our heated (in winter) / air conditioned (in summer) conservatory.
In line with RSPCA recommendations and our rescues rehoming policy, we do not take bookings for rabbits and guinea pigs who share accomodation. Rabbits and guinea pigs are best housed with the company of their own kind.
We can offer discounts for boarding over two weeks, long term boarding, and to those who have adopted animals from Green Fields Rescue. Please ask for details. Pets with special needs, those on medication or long haired breeds may incur a small extra charge for the extra time we spend with them. If we think your pet falls into this category, we will discuss this with you before hand.
Emergencies and other concerns:
We are experienced in caring for rabbits & guinea pigs at the rescue and of course, we always look for signs that your pet is well and happy while you are away. In the unlikely event that we have any major concerns about your animals health or health emergency we will telephone you, so please bring contact numbers for where you will be staying. We hope that once you have met us, you will feel able to trust us with your pets welfare. If you have any other worries or concerns we are happy to spend time talking things through with you. We are pet owners too and we know how much we worry about our own pets if we leave them, so we do understand!
Have a "hoppy" holiday!
