Hutch & Run Donations & Refurbishment
If you have a hutch at home that has seen better days and you would like to donate it to us, please dont hesitate to contact us. We can collect it in a van if it is too large to be transported in a car.
If the hutch your rabbits or guineas currently use is looking like it needs a visit from "changing rooms" then please call us before your furries start trying to fix it themselves and have any DIY disasters! Power tools are not suitable for use by unsupervised rabbits or guineas!! You can email a photo to us with the dimensions of the hutch or Jamie or Lorna can visit you to asses what needs to be done to the hutch and the time it will take to complete. We will give you a price for the materials and ask you for a donation for our time. In most cases, repairs can be done at your home so that the occupants do not have to move out during the building work! Jamie can also advise about "winterproofing" and securing hutches against predators. Sometimes something very simple can make your furries hutch a Des Res to be proud of! Just ask! We are also able to add runs or pens to existing hutches to make life easier for you....no more carrying your bun from hutch to run...just open the door in the morning and let him out into his new extension! Occasionally, we have hutches or runs either donated to the rescue, or which come with unwanted rabbits or guinea pigs. If we are able to, we refurbish these hutches and sell them to raise funds for the rescue. All the hutches are disinfected and steam cleaned inside and out to fully eliminate bacteria. Where required all the hutches have new roofing felt, mesh, wood stain/waterproofer, hinges & bolts.
Some of the the hutches need quite a bit spending on them and take quite a while to refurbish and 100% of the money you give for them goes directly to the rescue. The prices are a guide, but if you would like to give an extra donation for the time we have spent on them, it would be greatly appreciated by all the animals here.
