Brave Wally & 2 guinea pigs admitted to the rescue - 16/10/2005
Wally, so named due to his Walrus tusks, was almost unable to eat and drink and certainly unable to groom his filthy faeces caked fur. Its a miracle that he was not fly struck or in total gut stasis (where the rabbits digestive system stops resulting in an agonising death). His digestion is very very poor and slow but now that he has been treated today (16th October) as an emergency case by our vet, he has been eating all the hay in his hutch!
Wally is painfully thin and will need ongoing dental treatment to ensure he can continue to eat and put on the weight he so desperately needs.
Wally was admitted with 2 guinea pigs, also in appauling condition. They are riddled with running lice and have agonising fungal skin infections which they have scratched at so hard that they have torn open the skin.
We are appealing for donations to assist us with the cost of rehabilitating Wally & the 2 guinea pigs. In addition to his complex and ongoing dental work, Wally will also need to be neutered and vaccinated too. You can donate to us via the "help us" page. You can send a cheque payable to Green Fields Rescue to us or if you bank online you can send payments for Wally to the Green Fields Account.
