Has your bunny got a prize winning nose?! - 10/02/2008
Our rescue just loves this fun new competition being run by our friends at the excellent Little Warrens boarding facility.
The Little Warrens is run by Jo Oliver whose rabbit Alberta, we recently realised, has become immortalised in every day language both here at the rescue and subsequently, even more widely! When Jo adopted Alberta, pictured here, she quickly developed the nickname "Albe-squirter" or "Squirty"!! As Alberta is a black bunny with a wonderful, almost luminous, white nose (whose twitching is usually very telling of her mood!) this became known as a "Squirty nose"!! It wasnt long before Lorna and Jo would use this to describe a new bunny at the rescue eg "He's a brown lop with a squirty foot" or "Shes grey with a squirty ear"!
Soon, the rescues volunteers were also using the term and soon we even caught the veterinary nurses and boarding clients at it too!
Jo thought it would be great to find the most beautiful "squirty" bunnies around and so she is currently running a photo comptetion to find the winning bunny!
To qualify, your bunny needs to be pretty much all one colour with one area of their body in a white or different colour. For example, if your bunny is grey all over except for one white foot they have a "squirty foot" or your bunny is brown all over with one black ear they have a "squirty ear" or are white with a brown patch round their eye they have a "squirty eye"....you get the idea!!
If you'd like to enter your bunny, see the meet Jo's rabbits page here and then click on the "squirty nose" link from Albertas description: http://www.thelittlewarrens.com/meet.htm
We'll be entering some of the rescue bunnies in the competition including Lorna and Jamies own house rabbit Follie who is tan with a black "Squrity eyebrow"!!!!!
Good luck Squirty bunnies everywhere!
