Lorna & Jamie Field - Centre Managers
Lorna and Jamie are the centres managers and the rescue is run from their home.
Jamie didnt think he liked animals that much when he first met Lorna. She soon showed him the error of his ways with the addition of Bailey to their family in 2001 (see "Meet Bailey") and they married in an old watermill in 2003.
Lorna has many years of experience with caring for rabbits and guinea pigs. She has a "human" medicine background having nursed for several years before giving it up to work for Virgin Atlantic in customer relations. Eventually, the demands of the rescue took over as a (more than!) full time occupation and she now uses her nursing skills on the animals and her customer relations skills on the people!
Lorna is the rescues director and is responsible for the day to day decision making, the financial running of the rescue, updating the website, the physical and emotional rehabilitation and nursing of the animals, managing the discharges and admissions waiting list and for co-ordinating the holiday boarding bookings. She oversees the animals who are out at foster placements and is generally to be found with a phone glued to each ear! Lorna is also a rabbit care columnist for the local newspaper and is currently working with vet Ivan Crotaz on several studies and welfare projects. When she isnt doing any of that you can usually find her knee deep in poop cleaning out cabins and hutches! Aside from the promotion of the rescue, Lornas areas of animal interest are animal communication, holisitic therapies and a never ending battle with a basket of washing! Lorna relaxes by unashamedly drinking too much wine!!
Jamie has been a full time firefighter for the London Fire Brigade for 15 years. He is also the rescues builder and maintainance manager, having literally constructed it from scratch from the ground upwards. Jamie is responsible for the rescues stock control and can usually be found lugging bales of hay around, building runs, repairing hutches or somehow otherwise making improvements to benefit the animals. Jamie also has the auspicious job of "co-ordinating director of site waste products and refuse disposal" (aka "stig of the dump"). Outside of the rescue, Jamies interests are his Honda CBR 1100 X motorbike and his Giant mountain bike. Foster carer Rob Rumori and Green Fields deputy managers husband Neil Oliver have formed the Tuesday Night Mountain Bikers Club.
Lorna and Jamie live with their two house rabbits, Misty and Milo. They also have a herd of 8 magnificent guinea pigs: MacDuff, Holly, Gloria, Treacle, Pudding, Mouse, Tilly and Mama Bear. Also in the family are 3 rescued domestic mice, Mrs Brown, Mrs Black and Mrs White.
Lorna and Jamie are in the process of entirely renovating their house into both a working rescue centre and a working home.
